CLAIM BY WORKER

1. Who can claim? The dependants of those that were employed by or who lived within the vicinity of the mines owned by Kuruman Cape Blue Asbestos (KCB) or Danielskuil Cape Blue Asbestos (DCBA) between January 1952 and 30 September 1981, and who died from mesothelioma or asbestos related lung cancer, less than three years before the claim is lodged.

2. How do I claim? The dependant collects his/her ID , the deceased's ID, Work Record, Medical Records, Unabridged Death Certificate and proof of dependancy and approaches the claims office.

3. What happens next? The medical records are sent to the Cape Town Office for a diagnosis. If the deceased died from mesothelioma or asbestos related lung cancer, the dependant lodges a claim.

4. How is the claim followed up? A Claims Form is completed. A Bank Account is opened. These documents are sent to the Johannesburg Office.

5. And then...? The Johannesburg Office processes the claim. The award is calculated. The dependant returns for further consultation.

6. Finally... The dependant signs the Release and Discharge Form. The dependant is paid.
